I’ve been MIA from blogging for a while because I’ve taken on some new duties in my life since my last blog posts in late March. It was so long ago, in my mind, that when I sat down to write this today, I couldn’t remember how to start a post…so it’s a good thing I’m back when I am; If I stayed away any longer, I would have to start from scratch!
I have not written a new actual blog post or written new recipes since March, but that all changes now. I had been working 35-40 hours at a new job which was more taxing than I thought (but in a GOOD way), so I had made a concerted effort to conserve my energies by still creating and posting, just on Facebook and Instagram with photos. You can see some of what I’ve been up to in my absence on those links!
So if you have been missing that old element of my creativity, it will be back tonight. I have some more free time these days, as I am working part-time (same job), and I am looking forward to pouring some of my creative spirit back into my blog.
Come back tonight to see what I am up to. There will be updates about my last 22 days on the Whole 30, my one year of pretty strict (mostly) Paleo and one year of blogging, and some pics of things that you may have missed or I never posted during my brief hiatus.
Here’s what I have been up to lately:
#1, I got a job! FINALLY! What a 7 month long nightmare that was. I can tell you that the job market is hellish, competitive, tough, and, frankly, not for the faint of heart. It’s just rough. My biggest challenge was finding a job that can utilize my odd skill set and I do not live in the friendliest city for my kind of creativity, as far as abundance of social media/food marketing/creative jobs, at least that I qualify for with my experience. I was pretty pigeon-holed. The good news is that I got a job offer in April and started in May, after losing my job back in October of 2013. I’ve been there for 3+ months now, I’ve been learning the ropes and helping out on the business office end, and I’ll be transitioning into more marketing and social media now, which is really exciting.
#2, Did you notice I changed my blog name? I am no longer California Cavegirl Kindra, I am now officially Bon Appetit Paleo. That has something to do with inspirations I had earlier in the year and also something to do with my new job. One thing I’ve not talked about much here is my obsession with Julia Child, her story, her experience, and how she reinvented herself into a powerfully creative woman, not to mention that she was one HELL of a cook. But did you also know she was originally a government employee for years before she became famous as a chef? I just find her to be one kick ass gal, and outrageously talented, as well as one crazy go-getter who rewrote her life and the way homemakers cooked in the home. The byline in her first books was “For the servantless American cook,” which I think almost 97% of us can relate to. So what does that have to do with my new blog name? Well, I also happen to be a government employee now, too. And right before I got hired, I watched a movie about Julia that reinvigorated me about going for things more intently. Add that all together, plus Julia’s tagline of “Bon Appetit!” after her tv show, my love of living a Paleo lifestyle, my OBSESSION with food and feeding people well, making pretty things to eat, and you’ve got Bon Appetit Paleo, For the Servantless American (Paleo) cook.”
#3, I am also on my third round of Whole 30 to commemorate one year since changing my life for good with my first Whole 30 a year ago in August 2013. I’ll be updating the blog daily with things I’ve been eating, doing, feeling, etc. I’m also going to be re-posting my older Whole 30 Compliant recipes that might inspire others who are on the mass August Whole 30. I hope you find something to help you make your journey easier. And I give you many blessings because I know how tough the 30 days can be, albeit well worth it and rewarding in the end.
If you have been following me all along, I’m glad to be back with you in the blogosphere. If you are new, welcome aboard and I’m happy to share my food journey with you. I hope you find something that interests you or inspires you to cook, eat, or live a better life. I’m no perfectionist, and, believe me, my pizza man knows me by name, but I do try hard to live the life I present to you, but I do have my shortcomings. I strive to be transparent about my Paleo life, please join me for more food fun… and BON APPETIT!
